Sightlines terms of use

The service

Sightlines is provided by Penguin Falls LLC. It suggests likely addresses and roads in a direction using online scans and explores geographic features using the offline World Line dataset. Internet-dependent features require a functioning connection and service availability.

Accuracy and responsible use

Results are candidates, not guaranteed identifications or proof of where an event originated. GPS, compass calibration, coverage, geographic data, and connectivity affect results. Sightlines does not establish unobstructed line of sight or identify residents or owners.

Do not rely on Sightlines as the sole basis for emergency, navigation, legal, or safety decisions. Do not use it while operating a vehicle, to trespass, or to harass or stalk anyone.

Three free scans

The free download includes three successful fresh cloud scans total before purchase, shared by Nearby and Night Mode. There is no daily reset or automatic charge when those scans run out. Failed and empty scans do not consume a successful-scan allowance.

Sightlines Plus — annual subscription

Sightlines Plus costs $19.99 per year in the U.S. and includes 100 successful fresh cloud scans per subscription year, shared by Nearby and Night Mode. The current verified subscription period shown in Settings determines the allowance; it is not a calendar-year or daily reset. Renewing starts a new 100-scan allowance. Unused scans do not roll over, and there are no launch top-up purchases.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at purchase confirmation. The subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel in Apple subscription settings. The Apple purchase sheet displays the actual price and currency before confirmation.

Use Restore Purchases with the purchasing Apple Account to recover eligible access. Restoring on another device or creating a new guest account does not replenish an already-used annual allowance. Apple handles payments and refund requests under its policies. Deleting the app or guest account does not cancel billing.

Saved results and offline access

Saved history and offline World Line remain accessible without an active subscription, unless you delete or lose the device data. Saved Google address results are personal snapshots, not refreshed lookups or a shared address database. A fresh cloud scan consumes a scan only when it returns candidates successfully. Security rate limits and service outages can temporarily prevent scans.

License and third-party information

The iOS app is licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement. These service terms do not replace that license or limit rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Map, address, payment, hosting, and update services are subject to their providers’ applicable terms, including the Google Maps additional terms and Google privacy policy. Preserve attribution and use third-party information only as its source permits.
